Your host performance test vs 3rd party – geographic bias.
Field Note #167
🔬 Confirmed🟢 Beginner⏱ 5 Minutes✓ Observation from Experience
Observed: 3rd party speed testing tool consistently reported load times of 7–8 seconds while the site felt noticeably faster in the browser. Hosting’s own performance tool showed significantly lower load times.
Confirmed cause: 3rdparty speed tests from Seattle, USA by default — far from your states-based server. Round-trip latency inflates the reported load time well beyond what actual visitors experience.
Resolution: Use your hosts built-in performance tool as the primary benchmark for this site. The 3rd party tool is useful for identifying specific resource recommendations (JS deferral, image optimization) but its raw load time numbers are not representative of real visitor experience on a your hosted states site.
Generalized lesson: Always consider test server location when interpreting speed test results. A test from a geographically distant server will inflate load times in ways that don’t reflect real user experience for your actual audience.
