Your website may work perfectly. But how hard is it to use?
Field Note #316
🔬 Generalized⏱ 5 Minutes✓ Observation from Experience
Monday we talked about getting your website ready before you send more Q4 traffic to it. Yesterday, we looked at the bigger problem: a website can be fast, secure, mobile-friendly, and technically healthy — and still make visitors work too hard. Today, try something simple. Measure the effort. Pick one thing a visitor would reasonably want to do on your website: → Find your price. → Find your hours. → Book a call. → Request a quote. → Understand what you actually sell. Then do it like you’ve never seen the site before. Count: How many clicks? How much scrolling or hunting? How long before you knew you were in the right place? How many choices or fields did you face? How many times did you have to guess? There isn’t a magic number that makes a website officially “easy.” The point is to notice the work. Because visitors rarely tell you, “That took too many steps.” They just leave. If your technical checks are solid but the experience feels harder than it should, don’t automatically start planning a redesign. Fix the weaker side first. Your website doesn’t just need to work. It needs to help. 🌐 ZU2B.com
