Batu’s Dictionary and Error Guide matching worked by checking if a user’s question contained any known term or phrase. The matching was scoped to only the newest user message. A visitor describing a problem across multiple turns — mentioning “Form Submission Failure” in turn 1, then asking a follow-up in turn 3 — would not be recognized as a known form error in turn 3 because the Dictionary check only saw turn 3’s message in isolation.
Dictionary/Error Guide Context Matching Needed Wider Window
Field Note #301
⚡ Quick Fix (TL;DR)
The Culprit: Single-message context window was too narrow for conversational troubleshooting where a user might reference something they said earlier.
The Fix: Widened the matching window to the last 4 user messages concatenated, so context carries across the conversation. Note: triage (clarifying questions) was deliberately kept at single-message scope to avoid re-triggering the same clarifying question after the user just answered it.
